Question of the day
If you are cooking a potato in the microwave,
what happens if you don't poke holes in it beforehand?
Have I already asked this question before?

Stepfather-in-law (confident, scientific): "It may or may not explode. It seems like the steam and pressure would build up, and it'd have to go somewhere."
Mother-in-law (passionately rebutting): "But a potato is NOT like it's SO 'skin tight.' (emphasis on that last "t" sound.) It's not going to EXPLODE into pieces."
Father-in-law (ignoring passionate rebuttal): "I've heard of an intact egg exploding in a microwave."
Mother-in-law (smiling, suddenly forgetting the debate): "So here's an egg story: A long time ago I was in a village visiting an elder. We were talking. She was sitting facing me and her back to the counter and microwave. We didn't know her son had put a boiled egg in there to finish it off--the yolk was a little soft. So we're talkin' and talkin', and all of a sudden, KABOOM! (expressive wide eyes.) The microwave door FLIES open; egg pieces hit the elder on the back of her head and shoulder and all over the microwave! (chuckles)"
Not a solid answer from the arctic round table discussion, but we're pretty confident about eggs exploding. Want some ketchup with those eggs?
Ooh! Multiple sources of wisdom weighing in and debating my topic! I love it! Keep it coming, ES, and thanks for your comment!
