Obligatory knitblog

I have lots of blogs.

Sometimes I blog about knitting too. It's probably not very interesting to some of you, despite the fact that I really hold back on how much I say about it. So now I have started the obligatory knitblog.

I'll probably still post little things here and there about my finished projects, but now I can write about all the things that are boring to non-knitters on the knitblog. Sounds appropriate, don't you think?

More comfort food

I am in search of the Nabisco Pinwheel.
When last it was seen, the package looked like this:

I have been unsuccessful in my search thus far. If anyone has seen the Pinwheel cookie, know that information leading to its purchase will be rewarded. Probably with Pricklepoints™. Or you can have some of my Pinwheels once I buy them. Yes yes, that's it. A date with me, for afternoon tea, where Pinwheels will be served.

I was going to switch to Mallomars, but I can't find those either.

sad news: pinwheels, as well as mallomars, are not available year-round. they aren't stocked in the summer because the chocolate coating tends to melt, so in warmer months nabisco has a similar cookie, twirls, with a heat-resistant fudge coating. but without the same delicious taste. however, this does not explain their current absence, since it is, after all (and despite the temperature) winter.

yeah, i knew about the seasonal availability, but yes, it is still winter! i have been looking for these for a few weeks now, and they aren't supposed to be out of season until march.

Very well. When would you like to come over for tea and Pinwheels? Or since you choose to remain anonymous, would you prefer the Pricklepoints?

Update

I now smell like ramen.

Evidently still looking for comfort, I had ramen tonight. I had my bathrobe on for warmth. Of course I spilled ramen soup on my bathrobe.

Tonight I may be a pathetic slob, but I smell delicious.

: )

Comfort food

Augh. I've been feeling bad all day. Still recovering from last night's very bad worknight and an equally bad headache. I imagine this is what it would feel like to be hungover.

If anyone could hook me up with some authentic chinese ramen I'd be so all about that.

No?

Guess I'll just crave it 'til Sunday.

Small and spicy

I know the pictures of the knit bunnies I've been making have been quite popular,

but THIS is one of the most awesome cute things that I'VE ever seen.

Small and spicy. Like me.

Ooooh, spicy. I like that. Travel size for my convenience. And I won't insult the chef. Hee.

T: Insult the chef? Why on earth would you ever think of doing that?

P: At 1/8 oz (less than a teaspoon), it's so little it would probably cover just a bite of burrito!

I'm busting it open tonight to sprinkle on my cheddar beer soup, eaten with a hunk of crusty bread.

It is an insult to the chef when you add spice to his or her food.

If it is a small tobasco sauce container, he or she won't see me add it quite that easily. I can be more subtle.

Yah, I re-read your comment this morning and it dawned on me what you meant. I blame last night's headache for the apparent denseness (density?).

It's so small you could wear it on the underside of a ring, like a super secret spy device, and just point your finger at your food to season it! If only it were re-fillable.

Question

But you haven't answered my question yet!

If you were a fruit, what fruit would you be?

Not what you want to be, but what you would actually be. And more importantly, why?

Puffintoad is the only one who's replied (pomegranate). And I, of course, am still prickly and pineappley as ever.

And Thérèse, I don't think "cheeseburger" counts, unless you provide a very strong argument indeed.

i am trying to think of a fruit that is an acquired taste- how about a lemon? oval yellow fruit with acidic juice used for drinks and flavoring. you have to be tenacious to be able to enjoy one :o) shiny and usually smells nice, but watch out for seeds! many segments inside. can be sliced in many interesting ways. my grandmother had a sweet lemon tree in her yard. the lemontree is also aberdeen's (my birthplace) number one venue for the arts and musical performances also a quality resturant and cafe.

Cheeseburgers are a fruit.

In a previous post, I, uh... proved (that's right, I said proved) that Cheeseburgers are, in fact, a vegetable.

Now, as many people realize, some fruits are easily mistaken as vegetables. Tomatoes are one such fruit. Tomatoes are in Cheeseburgers. If they're not, they should be. And as such, the entire Cheeseburger experience includes a lot of fruit.

And it's my favourite kind of fruit.

I think it's a compelling argument.

ah yes, thérèse, i did see your post about the vegetableness of cheeseburgers. i wasn't sure if they crossed over into the fruit category as well. argument noted. BUT. still. the question is, would you BE a cheeseburger? not you do you WANT to be one (because i know you do), but would cheeseburger best describe your personality? for example, i see you as very possibly a kiwi or chardonnay grapes. but what do i know?

anon: lemon! add it anytime when you need a fresh and delightful zing in your life. versatile and available, but always considered a special addition to a drink or dish. like pineapple, an excellent source of vitamin c. it also can help make bad smells go away. what would mr. anon be, do you think?

Ooh kiwi. Or chardonnay grapes. Sounds delicious.

Yes, I'd be a mutation between those two.

I mean... if Cheeseburgers are really and truly not an option, that is.

i've been thinking about it, and i thought i made a mistake. so i looked it up, and i did.

i meant champagne grapes, aka zante currant or black corinth grapes. you know, the teeny tiny kind? because you are giggly.

My friend's wife

Somehow, she manages to make even a poncho look sort of elegant and dispel my anti-poncho sentiments.

It's cause it isn't long and flowy. It's nice and close to her body, and short.

It's a nice poncho.

When good food goes bad

A certain odor hung in the air at the Prickly Pineapple. What's the word? Sour... no.

Rancid.

Alas.

I've never smelled anything that could be described as rancid before. How did that happen? I bought the meat quite recently.

Ah well.

And that, my friend, is why the candles.

Hot and cold

Today is a hot tea and sushi kind of day.

Unfortunately, hot tea and sushi is a social meal, not a meal for one alone.

Anybody for a hot tea and sushi lunch? Maybe I'll just go anyway.

Dear Prickly...

Inspired by the recent blogstalking incident and having received a few related questions, I'm getting ready to write my thoughts on blog etiquette. Anyone have any thoughts or pet peeves they'd like me to share/address?

Goody goody goody! Make sure you talk about lurking, referrals, and what's up with those blogs that you have to register and everything before you can respond? And what about the blogger account thing when you post a comment here, under "Choose an identity." I usually just click "Other" because I'm afraid of "Sign up here." Should I make an account? Also, is it okay to kick someone out whom you don't know (like that one who was submitting strange captions a while back) and how do you do that? And finally, who invented blogs? i guess that's not quite a question about etiquette, but I'm still curious.

Thank you for helping me become a more proper blogger.

something i've been particularly awful at (as evidenced by folks, mainly old classmates, repeatedly googling their own names and making their way to my blog only to find what I'm sure is an altogether confusing and obscure reference to their person after wondering who the blog belongs to) is mentioning names. the camobunny has been especially tactful in maintaining hers and others respective anonymities, so i wonder, what are your ground rules for name mentioning?
